The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is the fourth autonomous university to be established in Singapore. The campus opened in January 2015, is located near the Changi Business Park, and is served by Upper Changi Station on the Downtown MRT Line.

The Buckminister Collaboration Space was refurnished in 2016. The acoustics of the space was designed to reduce echoes and reverberations so that students and teachers could have intelligible conversations. Fabrix™ profiles ML 27S (Mid Load, 27mm Height, Square Profile), and EL 27S (Edge Load, 27mm Height, Square Profile) were used in the construction of the acoustic panels for both the walls and ceiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Good acoustic treatment ensures clear speech intelligibility and reduces echoes or reverberation. In educational spaces such as lecture theatres, media rooms, computer labs or music halls, proper sound control helps students and teachers hear clearly, improves concentration, and supports performances or recordings.

Aural-Aid uses a variety of acoustic panel types for schools and educational buildings. This includes fabric-wrapped panels, timber acoustic panels, polyester acoustic boards, and other sound-absorbing systems suited to walls, ceilings, and room interiors.

Yes. Their solutions are versatile — for small rooms such as computer labs or media rooms they use wall panels to reduce reverberation and improve clarity; for large spaces like performance halls or lecture theatres they combine wall and ceiling treatments to manage echo, sound reflections and reverberation time appropriate for the venue.

Aural-Aid’s panels are available in multiple finishes and materials, allowing institutions to maintain aesthetic quality while achieving proper acoustics. For example, fabric-wrapped panels or timber panels can complement interiors while delivering sound absorption and reverberation control.

Yes. Aural-Aid understands local building contexts and noise challenges. Their acoustic panel systems are designed to meet soundproofing and acoustic control requirements within Singapore’s schools and institutions, offering effective solutions for speech intelligibility, music rooms, lecture halls and other learning spaces.
