Isolators, Springs, Mass Loaded Vinyl, Green Glue, and more
Sound Transmission Class (STC) is an acoustic testing standard used to measure how well a material blocks airborne sound. A higher STC rating means less sound passes through, critical in acoustic panel construction and soundproofing technology.
Since sound travels through both air and structure, effective acoustic treatment must address both. Airborne sound is absorbed using fiberglass acoustic panels or rockwool, which convert sound energy into heat. These are commonly used in room acoustic treatment, wall panels, and ceiling tiles.
To reduce structural sound transmission, isolators, springs, and mass loaded vinyls are applied. These elements decouple structures and dissipate vibration, supporting acoustic proofing and soundproofing environments using architectural acoustic panels.
